Hi everyone,

I apologize for the lack of updates here recently. Unexpected real life concerns have prevented me from logging onto the Internet. I hope to be back up and running in the next couple of weeks.

Please note, however, that the in-world group continues to be active and engaged! Watch the group notices for planned events and group chat for spontaneous get-togethers.

Let's Welcome 2 New Moderators! David & Scara

That's right. Somehow, they did it. :)

Let's welcome our newest moderators!

Scara (Scaramouche Dryke) and David MacIntyre (davidmac Resident) are a dashing couple from the UK. These two have already hit the ground running with two events: The Cheesy Game Show Night and Feel Good Fridays. Scara's delightful accent keeps us trying to get her to talk more in Skype as she reminds us that she firmly believes "in respecting others here as you do in rl."  David assures us that he is fun, omniscient, intelligent, always right, and - obviously - very modest.

Home Sweet Home

We have a new home, so make sure you pick up the new landmark.

A local business has offered us the use of their backyard (I'm secretly convinced that their staff just wants our company and our CAH table), so we've relocated. Drop in and have a cup of coffee, test your skills at the game tables, or just relax and hang out.

Now, since we're on a commercial sim, a few rules have changed for the moment. Please be sure to observe them.

Important new details for SL Friendship Network's new clubhouse:

• You can no longer set the clubhouse to home. If the need arises later, we will address this accordingly. :)
• For now there is no rezzing objects, but never fear!! Rosa is also preparing us a little area to do that. Watch for notices and updates to come!
• Lastly, there is a business set up beside us. Lets have some common courtesy, they have made this new area available for us to use. Let's be good neighbors!

Everything else is pretty much the same :)

After teleporting, head through the building to the back, and out the doors. We are in the Back Yard Area!

If a staff member IM's you, simply tell them you are with the SL Friendship Network (or whatever you call us lol) and that you are going to the hangout. They are friendly and will understand.

Come play games or hang out whenever you like, invite your friends, or make new ones!

Riders, Start Your...Ponies?

Feeling a little hay-wire? Need a jump? Addicted to horsepower?

It's time to mount up for SLFN's inaugural Feel Good Fridays event - The SL Friendship Network's Grand National.

This week, on the 24th, will be SL's first ever Grand National. People can enter the race as jockeys with their steeds or come along and cheer on their favorite pony. (No betting, just supporting) 

Jockeys must register by sending a notecard to Scaramouche Dryke for entry with the name and info about their horse.

Ladies can get dressed up too in proper lady hats and show them off to everyone else. 

Prizes 

There will be a prize for first, second and third place, as well as a prize for the lady with the most beautiful/unique hat.

That's right, we have a new event to tell you about! 

The Cheesy Game Show Night will take place on Monday at 12:00 pm SLT. 

Your hosts are Scara (Scaramouche Dryke) and David MacIntyre (davidmac Resident).

"Have you ever been one of those people who watched those tv game shows, shouting at the screen, knowing all the answer and thinking you could do better?

Well now is your chance! Every Monday from now on, Scara and David from the SL Friendship Network will be hosting an event dedicated to all those cheesy game shows, and you, yes you, could be our next contestant!

Prizes to be won every week and many laughs to have along the way as we explore quizzes, luck and the down right silly shows that we have all grown to love." -Scara


The inaugural event was a riotous ride as 6 contestants squared off for a contest of wills and wits in Avatar Family Fortunes (a.k.a. Family Feud - SL style).

Prizes - The winning blue team (Wolf, Conner and Ambie) each won a bunny cell phone, and the big winning prize was a tuk tuk truck for Wolf.

On the red team - Kiyoki, Weasel and Angel, sadly, won nothing.

Let's Welcome Our Newest Moderator

Recently, our dearly adored Stu decided to step down from his moderator role for a bit. Don't worry, he's not abandoning us! Left bereft, drifting in a lopsided raft, it was time to find another moderator to anchor that fourth corner post down before a capsize occurred.

This is where our newest moderator comes in. Angel has stepped up and is hitting the ground full speed with event ideas that will be more Euro-time friendly and more.

Earlier this week, SLFN held its first member challenge:

a 5L Fashion Show

The Rules:

I have seen the future and it is beautiful, we all know that our past always comes and bites us square on the butt, well today it's there courtesy of me for there will be an event that is sure to tickle the creative out there (which of course, is all of you!).

Therefore I propose a challenge! You must go back to when you first stepped into SL and you were cradled by RUTH. When you were looking into the big SL world, wondering where your choices would take you, momma RUTH was there to guide your way.

All children will revisit the nest and now it's your turn!

The Challenge!

Strip everything... clothes, hair, eyes, skin and even shape and snuggle in your rekindled relationship with momma RUTH (If you do not know how I'm happy to help you).

You have up to 5L.
Go make a new avatar, yes this means you will have to dive down into the depths of freebie world (don't be scared it's an awesome place). You may use group gifts... the group must be free to join...

You must keep track of your items and provide a detailed notecard of all your items their price and where you got them (We will be checking everything :) )

You may NOT use items you already have in your inventory (even if they were free) and also you may NOT accept any gifts from friends to use in this challenge.

TAMSIEN RESIDENT!

We might've started early...but we saved you a piece!

Born April 10, 2012, Tamsien describes herself as "a playful beast" who "can be drawn out with

promises of fun" but warns us not to be "offended by [her] way of communication in quotes and sassy remarks." 

I haven't had nearly as much time to spend with Tamsien as I'd like, but I happen to know her closest friends, Ambie & Rosalyn. If she meshes with them, she must be as awesome as she seems in the few conversations I've had with her.

Exploring Africa in Second Life!

Today it was time to explore the inner depths of the African Safari and get to be One with the Animals and our little group really did decide to do so.

From sitting on every animal we could and visiting the old man upstairs to Segway rides and the carousel, we made sure we left a very lasting impression on the zoo.

And it seems, Rosalyn has never seen a Beaver before and had a moment thinking it was a platypus. Shame on the honorary Canadian!

And in this picture...Ambie and Rosalyn is trying to figure out what it means to ride a Zebra and hold balloons at the same time.

For those that missed it, we will definitely do it again when we can but look out for the posts for next weeks explorations and come along. All we know it that it will definitely not be boring!

It's time for another survey!

As you know, we are asking members to be more engaged in both hosting and participating in activities. After all, this group is about meeting new people, strengthening relationships with ones you already know, and simply making SL more rewarding for everyone involved. 

But, that isn't going to happen if we hide away on our homesteads or keep going to the same old haunts every day. So, we want to know what will get you excited and interested. What will lure your pixel perfect bodies to our sides... Let's find out!

We need your help!

This group was born out of a need for a new way to meet quality people in SL. Now sitting on 83 members as of this morning, we currently have this lovely blog page, a hangout and an events schedule. And this is all achieved in  a month! I for one think that it is fantastic for sure a short amount of time. And while I must thank all the moderators and everyone putting hard work into this...it would not be possible without you as a member.

Sooo...that being said. Our events schedule needs more events. We want to be able to offer more events run by our members on a weekly basis. So if there is anything you would like to see or something you feel you can contribute, please send me a NC and we can add it to the schedule for you. We will help advertise and even come along and hangout of course! And we do have locations for parties etc already set up should that be what you want to do regularly.

There are items for both ladies and men.  

I thought I'd show you one of the lovely dresses I found in one of the eggs.

Remember, hunt ends Sunday night and watch out for those special eggs!

It's That Time

It's time!

For 3 days only, Easter eggs filled with goodies are hidden in two separate locations.

Location 1: SL Friendship Network Home

Location 2: Star*Crossed Weddings(TM)  (please be respectful and avoid interrupting events)

In addition to the regular eggs, 3 special ones will be placed (1 per day). These special eggs are set so that only one person can pick it up. When you find and "buy" one of these specials, be sure to pick it up into your inventory. As a courtesy, we ask that you only pick up 1 special egg so that everyone has the opportunity to try for one.

Please do not share the locations of eggs in chat. They're pretty easy to find; part of the purpose of a hunt is the fun of playing the game and exploring!

Rosalyn will be sending out a notice with the location landmarks, so be sure to check your notices.

I'd love it if you'd send me pictures of you with your new shinies to post on the blog!

Easter Egg Hunt Starts Tomorrow!

Yes, my friends, the Easter Bunny is back in town and still as foolish as ever.

I received an SOS message from him earlier today.

Apparently, he placed a bunch of eggs in hiding spots for safe keeping,

and now he's forgotten where he put them!

Let's help him out!

Starting tomorrow, the hunt is on to find the bunny's missing eggs and the gifts inside each one. 

The bunny told me that he remembers where the general locations are. 

Watch for a notice letting you know where to find these 2 locations.

By the way, if anyone finds my car keys, please let me know. I've already checked the fridge and my pockets.

April Rezzdays - Let's Celebrate!

That Means All New Rezzdays to Celebrate

Strike!!!

Despite some suspicious actions (Stu!) and projectile popcorn, last night's Bowling Night at Lucky Strike Bowling Bingo Alley was a treat as we put something in the gutter other than our minds.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay all night, but there was plenty of fun to be had - and pictures to capture for future blackmail.

Glitz and Glamour. Music and Dancing. Flying?

Last night, our lovely Ambie Helendale hosted a lovely formal event to celebrate a special day in her own life and share it with friends. 

DJ Dantes kept the music going all evening while 15 guests helped Ambie test out her new dance HUD. 

From the looks of the pictures, it was quite an interesting experience and plenty of fun was had.

Sharks vs. Avi's

Rosalyn organized a great field trip at Kona Beach for us today, so we suited up (some of us), tp'd in, and had a blast.

A few lessons were learned:

1. If you accept a teleport from Rosalyn, be prepared to swim.
2. If you're hungry, ask Constantina. She's a pro at luring in sharks for lunch.
3. It is possible to sunbathe in a wet suit and, apparently, to surf in formal wear.
4. Jet ski's don't surf well.
5. Ambi has magical hair that defies the laws of physics.

The Bunnies Have Been Busy...

Okay, so it was actually the chickens; I'm still confused by the bunny part, but - hey - they're cute!

They've also been stealing the chickens' eggs and have hidden them all over the place!

The chickens are a bit cranky about it, but it means finders-keepers for us.

Find those eggs and enjoy the gifts inside.

There is an ongoing Yard Sale on the roof of the Clubhouse for the next week. (Or longer if needed).

Rules:

• All items have to be set for sale for the price of 0L. 
• Please limit your purchases if you can, as to leave items for other members. 
• Feel free to put out a few as well! Make sure your items are transferable. 
• When you buy an item, make sure you "take" it. 

Prims are limited, so if there aren't enough left, be patient and check back later! <3 Have fun!!
